Who

We are a scrub hub based in SW15, sewing scrubs and other essential protective clothing for NHS hospitals and healthcare providers across South West London.

Currently headquartered in the Oasis Academy, SW15 1LY.

Origin

Rosie Taylor-Davies, formerly Head of Commercial Studio at the Royal School of Needlework, began sewing scrubs for her daughter, an NHS Doctor, and her colleagues, at the start of the pandemic when it became apparent that there was a national shortage. The initiative quickly grew to what it is now, with a team of over 100 volunteer sewers from the local community.

It was originally based in St. Mary’s Church, Putney, who kindly offered the premises as a base for laying and cutting the cloth, and assisted in raising funds to buy the fabric through their Parish Action initiative.

The team has now provided well over 47,000 items, including sets of scrubs, masks, laundry bags, headbands, scrub hats and gowns to hospitals and healthcare providers in central and south-west London, including Charing Cross, Ealing Hospital, West Middlesex, Hillingdon, Northwick Park, Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Royal Brompton, Kingston Hospital, St Peter’s and St Helier Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability, King’s College Hospital, St George’s Hospital and Southampton General Hospital.
